I cannot believe that I have had my narcolepsy diagnosis since 2009 and this is the first I've heard about the importance of orexin.
I'm actually pretty tired right now (I guess that's a bit of a no-brainer thing to say, given what this blog is about) so I'm not going to go all the way into my recent research and discoveries, but I have spent some time reading articles and advice related to orexin (also known as hypocretin), other related neurochemicals and processes, and its effect on sleepiness, appetite and arousal. All things which are incredibly important to know about, really!!
Once I've had some sleep I'll write more. I'm also going to be experimenting a little with my diet and seeing if certain nutritional alterations can make a difference. There seems to be lots of field commentary on how diet can affect narcolepsy symptoms, but not a lot of research. Should be enlightening (and awakening, hopefully). Night night!
